Syrupmaids win Baconton Cross Country
Invitational Saturday
The Cairo Syrupmaid Cross Country team won
their first meet of the new season last Saturday
at the Baconton Charter School Invitational. The
Syrupmaids defeated Thomasville, Thomas County
Central, Baconton, Seminole and Schley County.
Cairo's JaCourtney Alexander won the meet with a
first place finish overall, Quan Sadberry was
third, and Lakeshia Cooper was fifth. Other
team members were Jasmine Johnson, COurtney
Leaks, and Dominique Davis.
The Syrupmakers were unable to score any points
as a team, but Cairo's Jacolby Griffin was 10th
overall, and Edgardo Trejo was 16th overall.
Also competing for the Syrupmakers was Bennett
Harrison, Simon Harrison, and William Woods.
The Cairo High School Cross Country team will be
back in action Saturday, September 22nd in
Bainbridge.
Cairo High School begins Cross Country schedule

The Cairo Syrupmakers and Syrupmaids are set to begin
another cross country season with a meet this Saturday
in Baconton, Ga. Coach Lucy Baker will once again lead
both the Syrupmakers and Syrupmaids as head coach.
Both teams will have five regular scheduled meets with
the region meet taking place on November 1st in Albany
and the state cross country meet to be held November
10th in Carrollton, Ga.
The Syrupmakers and Syrupmaids both finished second in
region 1-AAA last season behind Westover.
Cairo will compete this Saturday morning in the Baconton
Charter School Invitational at 9am. On Saturday
September 22 Cairo will compete in the Bainbridge Cross
Country Meet, and will be back in Baconton on September
26th. After fall break, the Makers and Maids will
compete in Thomasville, at the TCCHS Cross Country
Invitational and will complete the regular season in
Albany at the annual Westover Meet on Wednesday October
24th at 5:00pm.
