The Crisp County Lady Cougars softball team handed the Cairo Syrupmaids their first loss of the season last Thursday in Cordele, slipping by the Maids 3-1 in a region 1-AAA match up.

Both teams battled to a 0-0 tie until the Lady Cougars scored two runs in the fourth inning. The Lady Cougars led the inning off with a walk, then the runner eventually made her way to third. Cairo's Casey Joiner then struck out the next two batters, but the runner scored with two outs on a base hit by the next batter. That batter then scored on another hit by the Lady Cougars.

The Maids then pushed a run across in the fifth inning after Ashley Holt reached on a base hit and scored on a two out RBI single by Katelyn Knight. The Lady Cougars scored again in the bottom of the fifth after the lead off batter reached on an error and later scored.
