The Syrupmaids played the Lady Patriots tight for four innings, as the game was played to a scoreless tie until the top of the fifth inning.  In that inning, the Syrupmaids committed four costly errors that cost them the game.  "We had one bad inning and it was the difference in the game," said coach Amy Hagan. In fact, the Syrupmaids held the Lady patriots to just one hit in the game, a double in the costly fifth inning.

Cairo's Casey Joiner and Jennifer Donalson both had doubles in the game and Kayla Pope picked up Cairo's other hit.  However, much like the loss to the Crisp CountyLady Cougars the week before, the Maids were able to score just one run off of the hits.  Cairo's lone run came in the bottom of the sixth inning after Ashley Cumbie reached on an error and scored on Joiner's RBI double.

Cairo faces TCCHS and Worth County this week, and will play in the Watermelon Tournament this weekend in Cordele.  Cairo's record is now 6-2 overall, and 1-2 in the regio
