Syrupmaids place second at Cordele's Watermelon Tournament

 

The Cairo Syrupmaids placed second in Cordele's Watermelon Girl's Fast Pitch Tournament last weekend in Cordele.  The Syrupmaids finished 3-2, losing in the championship game to Houston County.  Cairo had wins over Baconton, Perry, and Schley County, and lost to Heritage High School and Houston County.

 

Cairo beat Baconton 9-2 and lost to Heritage High School 8-2. The third game of the tournament had a much better outcome as the Maids blanked Perry 10-0.The Maids then defeated Schley County High School 7-4 in the next game of the day.

 

With the win, the Maids earned the right to play in the championship game on Saturday night and face Houston County.  However, the Maids championship bid came up short as Houston beat the Syrupmaids 9-1.

 

Cairo is now 11-4 on the season and 2-2 in region play and  will now face Monroe and Crisp at home this week in region 1-AAA games.
