Syrupmaids whip Worth County
The Cairo Syrupmaids improved
their region record to 2-2 with
a 9-3 win over the Worth County
Lady Rams last Thursday at Cairo
High School. Cairo was led at
the plate by Blair Bracewell who
went 4-4 with a double and two
RBIs in the win. Cairo also got
two hits each from Jennifer
Donalson and Kelsi Carraway and
Ashley Holt. Katelynn Knight,
Tara Womble had a double and
Ashley Cumbie added a single.
Cairo scored two runs in the
first by Bracewell and Knight on
hits by Donalson, Pope and
Carraway. Cairo picked four
more runs in the fourth inning
after Womble reached on an
error, Cumbie singled along with
Holt and Bracewell who drove in
the runs and scored as well.
Cairo's final two runs came in
the fifth inning when Womble and
Holt scored. Joiner pitched five
innings giving up three runs on
three hits including a
homer with six strike outs.
Knight pitched the final two
innings giving up no runs with
three hits.
Cairo is now 8-2 on the season
and 2-2 in region play.
