Syrupmaids hold off TCCHS

 

The Cairo Syrupmaids beat the TCCHS Lady Yellow Jackets last Tuesday at Cairo High School, taking the non-region game by a score of 3-2, holding off a late comeback by the visitors to seal it in the seventh. 

 

Cairo's Jennifer Donalson led the Maids at the plate, going 2-3 and scoring a run.  Cairo also got hits from Blair Bracewell who also a scored a run, and hits from Casey Joiner and Amber Brenton.

 

The Syrupmaids took a 1-0 lead in the first after Bracewell reached base on an error and scored on a hit by Joiner. Cairo would score again in the second inning after Donalson led off with a single and scored on an RBI single by Brenton.  Cairo's winning run would come in the third inning when Knight reached on a fielder's choice and scored on an RBI single by Donalson.

 

 The Syrupmaids improved their record to 7-2 on the year.
