Syrupmakers place third at Lee County swim meet

The Cairo Syrupmaker swim team placed third out of thirteen teams last Saturday at the Lee County Invitational swim meet. Cairo's James Bowen was the high point swimmer for Cairo, scoring 26 points.

 

Drew Whigham scored 16 points, Duke Posey had 14.5 points, Robin Kemp had 8.5 points, Tommy Mathis finished with 4.5 points, Lee Cox had 2.5 points and Cody Posey and Conner Whigham both had one point in the meet. 

 

Other Syrupmakers who swam well at the meet were Travis Redden, Jacob Jones, and Joseph Strickland.

 

In the girls meet, Kathryn Prince was high point swimmer with 7 points, while Jennifer Lane had 4.5 points.  Cairo's Brooke Kirkland, Meghan Ferrell and Ashley Nix all had .5 points in the meet.  Coach Jeff Brown said Katie Harvey and Natalie Milko also swam well for the Syrupmaids.

 

Cairo will now compete next week in the region 1-AAA championships at Albany State University on January 30th at 3pm.
